Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Niš has successfully completed the new accreditation process of the faculty as an independent institution of higher education, new accreditation of reconstructed programs of study in field of Mechanical Engineering (four-years bachelor, one-year master and three-years doctoral studies), as well as accreditation of new master program within the TEMPUS project “Improvement of Product Development Studies in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina – IPROD".

Complete reconstruction of studies has been done while the duration of bachelor studies has been increased on 4 years (previously 3). System of 4+1+3 has been created instead of system 3+2+3. Certain number of subjects has been discounted in scientific field Mechanical design, development and engineering (Industrial product development) on both study level (7 on bachelor and 3 on master level).

On bachelor studies 4 new subjects are introduced in scientific field of Mechanical design, development and engineering that haven’t existed at previous bachelor or master studies. All the other subjects in this field are reconstructed at bachelor studies to certain amount. Certain number of subjects has been transferred from master to bachelor study level, which are now new subjects on bachelor studies (reconstructed subjects).

Ex module Mechanical design, development and engineering on master studies has been promoted into new study program. Beside the formal change it is fundamental change because more than 50% of subjects are new or reconstructed. At master studies 5 new subjects were introduced in field of Industrial Product Development. Four existing subjects are also reconstructed, as well as student practice program.

At doctoral studies 17 new subjects were introduced in field of Industrial Product Development, while 5 were modernised. These subjects are just in scientific field of Mechanical design, development and engineering as Doctoral studies have only one study programme. As the volume of reconstruction is significant, it can be consider that this are new doctoral studies in scientific field of Mechanical design, development and engineering because there are more than 50% of new content.
