Training of the PC Universities teachers in field of pedagogical methodology

Dipl.-Ing. Jan Breitschuh from Institute for Product Development (IPEK) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, held the two hours long training lecture entitled “Competence based education“ at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology on June 03rd, 2013. During this training, Dipl.-Ing. Jan Breitschuh presented the IPEK focus on learning outcomes a fundament of efficient teaching. He presented the Constructive Alignment theory as well as  a model for competences measurement developed at IPEK. Presentation can be found here.

Furthermore, in the frame of training in field of pedagogical methodology, Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Burkardt organised a tour for PC teachers through the main institute building devoted to presentation of teaching methodologies and teaching equipment used at IPEK. Training participants got the insight how the teaching is performed at IPEK and talked with the students about the teaching at IPEK. Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Burkardt specially emphasized the Prototyping room where students actually work under supervision on making of product prototypes, as well as the Creativity room where students gather to boost creativity with technical means (virtual reality, special jumping chairs, …). Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Burkardt also showed the special suitcase designed at IPEK in which teaching assistants carry the practical means used in teaching process. Training participants visited also IPEK external laboratories used for teaching and research as well as the HECTOR school of Engineering and Management which provides education in field of Management of Product Development at International department of KIT. Training participants were present at one lecture and at the after-lecture discussion between the professor and the students which is always a part of teaching process at HECTOR school.
